Free meal - thanks Baseball team!
The weather is so hot. It has been consistently around 34 degrees since I arrived. The hotel and many places when venturing out have air conditioning - so it's bearable but wandering around and exploring is almost impossible in this heat!
With that in mind, we all ventured out to find somewhere to eat after training. On the way, I saw many fun and traditional looking places like this ramen place with a moving pig sign:
or this place with all the lanterns:
We found was this fantastic vintage theme Izakaya:
It had a really interesting an unique decoration on the interior; the rooms were all decorated with a different post war vintage theme. Most of the rooms had hanging decorations and ours was no exception with book slips/cases hanging down from the ceiling. Our friends were sat opposite us and had various toys suspended above them. All over the walls were vintage posters from post-war Japan and the music followed the theme.

We ate some really good kushikatsu (fried meats and vegetables on sticks), yakitori (fried chicken skewers) and asparagus bacon on sticks! We all had a few drinks too! The food was great but right at the end of our meal, one of the group found a few pieces of chicken that were not cooked through. The staff were really good about it but as the group didn't want a replacement, the waitress took the chicken away.
When we went to pay, we were told that the restaurant's favourite baseball team had won that day so all the food was free! We still don't know if that was true or just that they were trying to find a way to compensate us but there were seven of us so it was quite a bill that the restaurant just wiped off!
It proved to be quite a fun and successful evening!
