Bistro Circus?!

I think I've successfully battled with jet lag and won? Can these things have a delayed effect?

I'd stayed awake until 9:30pm Japan time and I managed to wake up on time, though I think I could have slept the whole day through if I hadn't set myself multiple alarms.

Now you may be wondering - what kinds of foods are available to eat for breakfast?
Well, there's no cereal, porridge or pastries in sight. There is however an assortment of what most Westerners would see as lunch:
Salad, mini hot dogs, seaweed and rice, some strange meats that I couldn't work out what exactly they were. There were scrambled eggs and some other indeterminable items which I did not attempt to try.

The day flew by with training and lunch crept up so I embarked out into Hamamatsu to find something to eat with the other trainees. We settled on heading for the department store food court.

The square right outside of the store was filled with loads of people doing an impromptu workout dance class to Brazillian music and it would have been so rude of me not to join in with my full suit - so myself and Amy, who has unwittingly become a friend of mine, jumped in and started dancing along - much to the local Japanese delight. One woman absolutely loved that we got involved in our suits and started clapping and dancing along. Of course, you can have too much of a good thing so we had to leave to find the others who had already gone ahead in search of food.

After lunch, training went by in a blur and we all decided to go exploring around the city to see what interesting things we might see and find. We wandered around, for the most part aimlessly until we happened across:

My interest was piqued.  It advertised itself on the outside as an American Chinese Restaurant - which in itself is an unique combo.

Needless to say, we visited for dinner that evening.

Inside the scene was set with Alice in Wonderland being projected in the background, the big top circus tent design and the sculptures that were part of the decor. They had definitely nailed the aesthetic.

We all chose burgers from the menu but unfortunately, we had to be disappointed as they had run out. As an alternative, I ordered Karaage (fried chicken). The atmosphere was fun and I enjoyed it even though they didn't have our first choice in food and we all ended up eating less than we'd expected. We all wandered to a 7/11 to grab some dessert instead and by the time I'd gotten back my bed was calling to me.
