Best Archers in Hikone
So Sunday brought rain but this was brightened by attending the Archery competition held in the grounds of Hikone Castle.
A small group of us met at the castle, Amy, Tawanda, Shawn, Amy's boyfiend Nam and I all found our way to the viewing tent of the competition where some of the best archers from all around Japan and internationally were competing. The targets were set 80 meters away from where they were shooting from, which is 20 meters more than Olympic competitions. It was insane. We saw some incredible shooting but even better, we got to try ourselves.
On the smaller range. With help. And excepting Amy and Shawn, none of us got the arrow to stick in the target and nowhere near the centre. Shawn has shot a bow before, so he's disqualified from my amateur rankings, so Amy was the winner of our beginners competition.
Here's some video's of us:
Amy's Amazing Archery
Joeley's Attempt at Archery
To celebrate not shooting anyone by accident, we meandered back to the cars to drive for a nice meal at a really delicious Indian Restaurant Tawanda and I found. On the way back, I took some pictures of the moat surrounding the castle and some sights I saw on the way back to the car.
After the meal, we popped over to Baby Face Planets for some desserts. Baby Face Planets is a cafe/restaurant which has curtained off booths and is so named because all of it's staff have baby faces. The overall theme inside is Thai decorations and it was very beautifully decorated. Although, each booth has Tom and Jerry on repeat - not really sure why.
I will go on record as saying that the fondant and marshmallows is king of all desserts.
So in conclusion, I had one delicious dessert and didn't also get a really yummy waffle with chocolate and strawberries and bananas (😉).

{Line of Tanooki on the right and not really sure what that is on the left, but it definitely leaves an impression}
Our meal was delicious, as expected. I forgot to take a picture of the naan in my excitement because the naan is why we go to this place. It's amazing and it's gigantic! The curry is nice though and comes out with a little pattern on the top.After the meal, we popped over to Baby Face Planets for some desserts. {Nam got three desserts - I definitely didn't get two because there isn't photo evidence}
{Tawanda's tiramisu on the left and my chocolate fondant surrounded by toasted marshmallows}
